Yulosi
Appearance
The Yulosi are the Council's eyes in the sky. Like the tiny Pixies who can fly, so can the Yulosi, but the Yulosi can achieve a much larger height than Pixies. Yulosi have impressively sized wings that allow them to make good use of updrafts, glide from high places and at great effort sometimes achieve flight from lower places. Their wings are actually an extension of their arms rather than being separate limbs. When not in flight their flight membranes are folded up between their arms which allows for their arms to have plenty of mobility. When they wish to fly, they stretch out their arms and special muscles tighten the membrane to make it taught. Curiously the membrane itself is part skin, part feathers giving the wing something of a hybrid bird and bat appearance. The rest of their bodies do give them an appearance akin to birds though their heads resemble that of the eagle, larger and with a mobile crest on top of their heads normally not seen, which tends to rise when angered or excited. They have large beaks and unlike many birds their eyes face forwards rather than to either side of their head. A Yulosi's feet also resemble that of birds too and because of this they tend to prefer perching on things rather than standing on flat ground.
History
The Yulosi are one of the few races to have made some small success at escaping the storm. Catching the right updraft they flew high enough into the sky to see over the top of the storm itself, although at this height they found it hard to breath and risked a long fall. What they reported back was not promising, all they saw was the top of the storm clouds stretching far into the distance although they were able to confirm that the horizon is curved and there appeared to be a second moon which follows an orbital path that never crosses the eye of the storm. Yulosi are considered a younger race in comparison to the Grengan and Erinor, their life-spans similar to that of the Humans. However they are not great record keepers. What little they know of themselves is passed purely by word of mouth and their nature leads them to gossip and the telling of tall tales to the point that even they do not know if any of their tales of their past are actually true.
Society
Yulosi exist in flocks, typically made up of 20 to 40 Yulosi and lead by whichever Yulosi has flown the highest. Most flocks tend to be seen arguing fairly vocally over which of them has actually achieved that honour as there is no way to prove the feat and a Yulosi's habit of telling tall tales even affect their interactions with each other. Most Yulosi can be found talking to whoever will listen and they usually don't mind what they talk about so long as they get to talk. Yulosi can often be found sitting on the roofs of other people homes, an act the Council has requested they do not do, but short of shooting them down with arrows they have been powerless to stop.
