The true appearance of a Xentri is unknown, even to themselves for they spend their entire lives emulating other races not only in behavior but in appearance too. They are capable of assuming an almost perfect copy of another race. The only distinguishing feature that reveals a person to be Xentri is the eyes, all Xentri possess pure golden/yellow eyes and no matter what race they emulate, even the Grengan with their faceted gem-like eyes and the Erinor with their mystical flame-filled eyes the Xentri gives themselves away with their give away feature that ultimately makes a joke of their ability to otherwise perfectly mimic anyone or anything. Due to the energy required to change form Xentri usually pick one form and remain that way for most of their lives, they are often born resembling their parents or a hybrid appearance depending on what race their parents have chosen. This ability does require touch however, if the Xentri cannot come in contact with the race they wish to emulate, then the change cannot happen. Occasionally a Xentri is afflicted with a rare disease where they emulate multiple races at the same time and seem to be unable to control which race each part of them is emulating.
Council records indicate that the Xentri pre-date the forming of the Council and their full origin is unknown. They are believed even amongst themselves to be a magically created race, a failed experiment intended to exist as spies. This has left them somewhat of a lost race until the formation of the Council and the desire to give them purpose and function within the Trium Isles. This lack of any past of significance has sometimes caused issues with their sense of racial identity, they feel themselves to be a rejected people, unwanted and undesired and thus they have a tendency to hide themselves away even more than their ability to emulate other races allow them to. This has lead to them being known as a shadow race.
Xentri often form small tight-knit groups, no leader exists within this group as they share equal responsibility for their actions although this often depends on what race they may be emulating as they try to fit in with whatever people they are copying at the time. Older Xentri can do this quite effectively however the younger sometimes struggle to convincingly act like the race they appear to be, eating foods the race would eat or moving in ways that race should not be able to. However whilst this was a problem before the formation of the Council of Elements this odd behavior is now simply seen as a marker of who they are.
