Mercia
Mercia is a massive city, encircled by a large stone wall, which is heavily guarded at all entrances. The soldiers eye you suspiciously as you pass through the main city gates, but nobody tries to stop you. Even passing through the gates on the edge of the city, you can see the distant towers of Mercia Palace rising high above the rest of the city. There was no royalty in your homeland, so this is the first time you've ever actually seen a royal palace, and the sheer size and grandeur of it almost takes your breath away. You've heard lots of stories about Mercia on your travels, most of them quite mixed. But the general view of people who have lived or worked here, is that the King is a man to be feared if you get on his wrong side, but he is fair to his subjects. You wonder if you'll catch a glimpse of him while you're here.
